  • i dont really think that u use this technique every time that u want to draw a portrait

cuz i have seen a lot of ur videos and u dont do that.

well when i draw i dont really use techniques like that one, i only learned by my own way

and i really wanna draw just like u

but i havent drawn any portrait, and i have a lot of questions about it,

what kind of pencil u use to draw portraits?? graphite or charcoal?? hb or hb-- what?

i really wanna draw like u

    u just blow my mind

    congrats & thnx

  • You are right this isn't a technique. It is an exercise. It is set up for the person who does it to gain self insight and some confidence to do more portraits. Ita kinda like reverse engineering the process of breaking down what you see into something that can be interpreted and drawn.

  • Waaay back when you were first shading the shapes, you used inly the one pencil. When doing the rough 'base' shading, is it fine to do this? And when would you advise bringing different pencils in? Thanks for this again ^^

  • I suggest learning to use one of the soft pencils. If you use a 4b you will learn to get a light delicate touch. Then you can use the other pencils to fill in the gaps of what you can't do with a 4b.

  • Haha this is genius, I only did one piece of the ep 5 exercise thinking that it wouldn't have much use..

I guess it's time for me to do the other 3!

  • It's made for you to discover something. That's why I say there is a surprise and the surprise is not the person you are drawing. The surprise is that you will teach yourself to look at the world differently.

  • these classes are very well done

  • One thing i am learning is patience. When I would see videos of yours drawing somebody I would loose sight of how much time you really had invested into a drawing. I enjoy your insight into drawing.
