BART's evening rush winding down toward its last hour at West Oakland Station, as a 9-car San Francisco/24th Street train pulls into Platform 1 on a gorgeous Thursday in Oakland. A 10-car Pittsburg/Bay Point train arrives on the opposite platform moments later, followed by an 8-car San Francisco/Millbrae train back on Platform 1.
The San Francisco/24th Street train is BART's evening commute special that runs exclusively on the Pittsburg/Bay Point-SFO line Monday through Friday only. In all, there are only two of these every weekday. They begin as San Francisco/Concord trains at Daly City Station, before changing their destination to "San Francisco/24th Street" at Concord Station in Eastern Contra Costa County. Upon termination at 24th Street Mission Station in San Francisco, all San Francisco/24th Street trains head back to Pittsburg/Bay Point.
Videographer's note: the first train in this clip is a 9-car Richmond train.
Notice on the SF/Millbrae train, Car #1230, the lead car was used on my 10 car SF/Fremont train last Monday at 11:30am at Daly City which that day trains were longer. I think "A" cars do a generic rotation in Richmond and Hayward yards which is what I've noticed despite the fact that everyday, in each car, whether its a Daly City or Fremont, it says "Maintained by Richmond Yard"
