I thank bus drivers
and coffee baristas
I thank Stephen Colbert
and Jon Stewart for lifting
my spirits I thank
my friends for not
abandoning me and
for laughter we share
I thank all musicians
for their music
I thank artists
for pictures
I thank my good husband
I thank my family
I thank my teachers

for telling me when he thought
he couldn't stand something
any longer he could
and how thought moves on
I thank books
I thank astronomers
I thank imperfect people
and brilliant selfless men
I thank people who suffer
I thank idiots and idio-savants
what can I thank Hitler
and the devil for?
let me think, oh,
for making me think
I thank the earth, sky, trees
sun, sky, rivers, seas, stars
grass, flowers, mushrooms
animals, insects, berries
I thank babies I thank you
