...looks as though whoever worked this mine was thoroughly determined to 'git 'er done'... Chimney could've been for a smiths' shop-- with all that iron tying the mine together...or a smelter... I'd have liked seein' the place in full operation.

This is the main haulage tunnel of the Ophir Hill mine. As with most the mines out there, it's a patented claim and thus private property. Do a search for Mojave Underground. They have access to this and several other mines in the area.

yes I have been in contact with mojave underground since they viewed this a year ago. They showed me around and it was a good time. I think it should be noted that a claim does not make it private property, but restricted to mining to everyone except the claim holder. Anyone may visit a claim.

That's great.
Your right about a regular claim, but a patented claim is different. A patented claim includes ownership of the real property as well as the mineral rights. The owner even pays taxes on the property and can put up fences and gates. You can be charged with trespassing for being there without permission. Do your research and get permission when needed. Otherwise it reflects badly on all of us.

Thank you for your insight. It is much appreciated. I didn't realize the difference. In trespassing though you must first be asked to leave peacefully unless criminal intent is clear. Otherwise you can't press charges, or hold someone.
