Depot Days Speeders (Motorcars) at Brooklyn 4/25/2009

On the last weekend of April, the town of Brooklyn, Wisconsin holds the "Depot Days" festivities which include rides in privately-owned railroad "speeder" MoW cars on the out-of-service former Chicago & Northwestern line through town. The rides went ahead despite the inclement weather that weekend in 2009.

Here we ride an original Canadian National Fairmont speeder (pictured at 6:47) from just north of State Highway 92 in Brooklyn (the rails are removed from both crossings in town) to the brand-new bridge and realigned track at Jefferson Street in Oregon. We were probably the first paying passengers to ride the rails across that bridge.

awesome job, i liked the CNW one. there are going to be 45 speeders here in my town this sunday to celebrate the 100th aniversery of the fairmont railroad company. :D

Those cars are called hi rails. About how much money would it cost to get one of those?
