It`s a car that gives pleasure by itself... I have had two; a 14 TGE and a 16 Valve Gandini...

Thats a problem of BX. Hydraulics are conected with the brakes, but this is good too because the pressure of the brakes is relates with the suspension, in other words, best handling...

You can´t forget that this tipe of suspensions requires manutention too... if you ignore it, the worse may happen...

I have one BX, and the hydraulics are almost perfect, so i don´t think that they are rubbish...

And remember you still have handbrake to stop the car (handbrake on Hydro`s is on front weels)

In the nineties, after enjoying my late-version BX GTi, I came across a later, much rarer GTi 4-wheel-drive. Though a tad less quick, it had astonishing road-holding abilities. After several years and a few long French trips, I swapped it for the Xantia HDI I still drive today, but I miss that BX (Bertone) styling, sexy soft seats and the indefinable Frenchness of the old BX's. Btw, the 'magic carpet ride' suspension soldiers on and on no problem, if properly maintained.

i had a BX once, it was the 1.6, i restored its hidrolics amongs some othere things, got it to be in a good condition, but then one evening, acting like a total idiot i got the car airborn by a hump in the road and the oil pan got punched through.....it died, while towing it away with my fathere, i forgot it didnt have breaks and i accidentally drove into my fatheres car! xD

My fatheres car was a Isuzu Trooper, an old one, so no worries.

It was sad to see the BX go.

@Brainiac83 i and my family have 4 hydropneumatic citroens (BX, XM, Xantia) no problem with hydraulics, no brakes problems, just good regular maintenance and you have less problems than with normal suspension. But if you neglect it then its your own stupidity.
