The Council of Jamnia rejected all books not written in hebrew and all those that were written after about 400 BC. This purposefully rejected the new testament writings that were circulating at the time. You are picking and choosing from this council that was trying to eliminate prophetical books that referred to Jesus in the the 7 rejected books plus the writings that were included in the New Testament that they considered blasphemy.
Luther threw out books, we didn't add them. Gutenberg Bible

Thanks so much for this video! It's perfect to show my teens class when explaining the origin of the Bible.

@hoseris How do you feel about the prophesies regarding the Buddha?
Honestly we are taking the word of Christian sympathizers writing as much as 100 years after the Jesus' death confirming Jesus fulfilling something written centuries before hand. What "prophesies" do you expect them not to attempt to fulfill?
Of the things we can check by historic record (who was king of Judea and who was the Roman governor) things don't add up. See ProfMTH vids and I'll reread Strobel (hack IMHO)

This was GREAT!
Sorry. I didn't hear any evidence that the bible contains any truth. From the council of Jamnia onward we have records, but we are taking the councils' word for the truth of any of the Bible.
Please note that in the era of the Dark Ages, the passing of "knowledge" was severely reduced and nearly every other world culture became more advanced than Christian Europe. God didn't go to great lengths to bring us the Bible, people did.

@drfoxcourt I think whether it was God or man that brought us the Bible depends on your perspective & it's not feasible to change anyone's fundamental belief system with a youtube video, so we started here: trying our best to present a historic account of how the Bible came from the mouths of the prophets to our bookshelves & coffee tables. Through study and faith I believe in the truths of the Bible. I believe it teaches us about who God is & the prophesies of a Savior were answered in Jesus.

@hoseris It's not a matter of perspective. The available evidence supports the notion that people wrote the Bible and attributed it to God, but there is no evidence that God brought it to us. This is true of the Quran, Bahavadgita, or any other religious text as well (something you'd be willing to concede God didn't bring to us I dare say).
Your faith and any inherent worth of the Bible have no bearing on the issue.

@drfoxcourt I'd love to have a more normal conversation about this, because it's hard to do on a chat or through youtube replys, but you can't win an argument by basing your belief on "available evidence" & out of hand just casting doubt on my beliefs. That's perspective. How do you feel about the prophesies that were fulfilled in Jesus although written hundreds, sometimes thousands of years before His birth? This is one of the many things that define my perspective.

@hoseris If you're really interested, not just in a debate, but really looking for truth, I encourage you to read "The Case for Christ." by Lee Strobel. Set out to prove the Bible was inaccurate & faith in it was silly & ended up a believer in Jesus
