Great early Blackstrobe production ! Today Arnaud Rebotini is well-known for his new wave/indus-inspired remixes, but at that time he was just making ELECTRO, looking toward Arthur Baker and the early NYC electroboogie scene. In fact "Paris Acid City" beat & bassline are a sample from Tony Cook & The Party Peoples "On The Floor (Rock It)", a classic electro / early garage track mixed by ... Timmy Regisford ! Far from Depeche Mode and Nitzer Ebb indeed ... Even the voice (repeating Paris Acid City) seems to come from some John Robie production, or perhaps from an early Chicagoan track (indeed Rebotini uses a lot of acid house sounds and effects on this). And dont forget to listen to the Russ Gabriel remix, which takes the song to interesting leftfield disco heights. (source Discogs)
