Mary Harding of MaryHardingJewelry.Com demonstrates ceramic bead making techniques beginning with materials and going through a series of demonstrations on how to form a variety of bead shapes.
@naomiwashburn using metal skewers instead of wood ones doesn't change anything. The problem isn't the material of the skewer, it's the nature of how clay dries. Clay gets smaller as it dries, if it is not allowed to do that, it cracks to make up the difference... and cracking is not what you want.
hi thank you so much but I really wanna know what is the perfect way to make this type of clay at home i found some methodes but i don't know whice one i should use thanks again waiting for answers
REally very interesting. I tried to make some before I'd seen this video, and jst rolled them and put them straight onto the bead frame on which they would be fired!!! So I let them dry on there too, and of course they shrunk. After firing, some of them were still stuck to the bead frame!!!! so thanks for the help from your video.

Couldn't you fix the problem with the beads shrinking on the skewer by using metal skewers instead of wood? How would that affect the final product?

I always thought making my own beads would be fun, but it kinda looks tricky, have any tips?
