Here's a nice record of "Breakfast in Bed on Sunday Morning" by Harry Lauder, played back on my Brunswick portable model 101 (ca. 1923). The odd thing about this recording is that Lauder keeps coughing throughout the recording, barely able to get through the last chorus and coughing even after the orchestra stops. This was the only take on this song.
music by Harry Lauder, lyrics by Lauder and Gerald Grafton

He did the same coughing routine when he recorded this for Edison, so it must have been part ofhis act. I think it's supposed to tell us that he's been drinking whiskey!
