Flying over New York City, over the Hudson River Corridor (where the unfortunate accident between a sightseeing helicopter and light aircraft occurred), southern Manhattan and La Guadia: I flew an (almost) straight line from Pottstown, PA to Falmouth, MA. The video begins over the Hudson river (west side) and ends over the East River, just before overflying La Guardia. You can see Central Park. Listen to NYC air traffic controllers moving airliners around the sky with ease.

  • dude... there's a ufo or something weird in this video. right in the center. look closely.

  • nope. it's a reflection off the window.

  • you must have had a nice controller

  • The New York controllers are very good; in this case I was VFR and they were providing radar services to tell me about other traffic.

  • are you allowed to fly right over LGA??

  • Yes, but you can't just go wherever you like - there are airspace rules to be followed or else you can get into a heap of trouble...

  • Looking at that makes me wish to be in NYC. Do you live there or were you doing a Washington D.C to Boston or something.

  • @neweast1 Class B stops at 7000 over NYC, so really you don't need to talk to anyone. I just flew last night; there were clouds at 4400 so we got cleared straight over the Empire State Building, then Downtown Manhattan, the Statue of Liberty, and EWR at 2500 feet. Was the best cross country ever.

  • Love the sound of that engine!

  • i know, in NYC you can only fly over the waterways, so i was asking if you can fly right over LGA
