I described earlier how Mohammed entered Mecca and threw out all the other gods except the moon god, and told the people this is "the god" (al-ilah, or al-elah to you, and shortened to allah).

Yes, many cultures have and continue to worship the moon god, but the current empire with power who does so is Islamic.
