On May 4, 2006, The Real Change News published an interview with Artis the Spoonman by Ken Strong entitled, "Spoon-taneity The Spoonman Speaketh"
This is the first part of a video interview series with Artis in his new flat over looking the Port Townsend Bay that will be using the 2002 story as a loose script.
"He's a familiar figure to many in Seattle, especially those who frequent the Pike Place Market: the muscular, middle-aged man with the mohawk, standing on the sidewalk, usually accompanying singer/songwriter/guitarist Jim Page, with his huge array of spoons of different shapes and sizes and materials spread out on a blanket, furiously playing against his face and body, eyes closed, lost in the performance. " (This is what we used to talk about in Part 1)

ha thats funny, i have lost count how many years since somebody else cut my hair, 6 years maybe. and it just seems daft now to go and pay somebody else to cut it. although its harder these days because i have my hair shorter.
thanks for sharing this great interview, great to hear the spoonman in person

So many amazing street performers in Seattle. I remember watching spoon man at the street festivals in UW and down at Pike Place all the time... I miss seeing him live so much...

Wow...totally into the "cut your own hair" gig. I just can't see paying $10-$15 for a few swipes with the #2. Got my own shaver and kept it real short...until the blades got dull. Six years later and I've got more hair.
Still...Artis looks great with "long beautiful hair". Good thing his talent shows so well with or without his mane.
