"The Look Of Love" was initially composed by Burt Bacharach as an instrumental for the 1967 film spoof of James Bond, "Casino Royale". Burt claims he was inspired to write the song by looking at the early rushes of Ursula Andress in this film. It was decided that lyrics should be added so Hal David gladly obliged, and the song was first recorded by Dusty Springfield. When "The Look Of Love" was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Song, Sergio Mendes & Brasil '66 was chosen to sing the song for the television broadcast. Their performance and subsequent recording led to it becoming a Top 10 hit in June of 1968. Janis Hansen sings lead along Lani Hall (Herb Alpert's wife) on this recording.

  • This version, Diana Krahl and Shirley Horn's are my favorite covers of this song.

  • This is the classic version of "The Look of Love" with all due respect to Dusty Springfield's beautiful original rendition.

  • It's timeless....

  • Lani Hall and Karen Philipp NAIL Dusty Springfield in this version.

Sergio Mendes NAILS Burt Bacharach original arrangement.

  • Will there ever be a group as good as this one in our lifetime? Their music is timeless! Listen and remember all the great times you had when you were younger and listened to this group every day.

  • Lani Hall is one of my favorite Bond theme performers, and seems like just a great person on interviews.

so true, I agree with you 100%

  • This is the version I was looking for. Fabulous. It is what I grew up hearing. This is from the time when people sang, but did not over-sing, dress wild, or mess things up with improper visuals. It is true talent, and the art of using your voice to let a great song itself.

  • ♫♪ Merci...so amazing...♥♪♫

  • This is a great song. Thanks for posting it.
