Only a very small percentage of the population owned stocks in 1929, far smaller than today which makes today more dangerous. Who says 1929 never no more. Then as now we have a stupid Federal Reserve Chairman that was interested in encouraging risk. Both wanted to give the stock market "another shot of whiskey"-quotation from the 1929 Chairman. Also more dangerous was that in the 1920s America was the world's largest creditor and now it is the world's largest (impoverished) debtor.
What happened to the days of "ill give you my cow for a gun and bullets"
