Dude, you are my hero. YOU DON'T HAVE IDEIA ON HOW MUCH I AM LOOKING FOR THIS, I'M SEARCHING FOR THIS LIKE FOR 5 YEARS, REALLY. THANK YOU <3 I LOVE YOU <3
this was intended to be a full show, but these shorts are the result of CN wanting Aaron Spinger to develop them for the web instead of television. That's why these are all so short and almost free of dialogue. I'm sure if it got picked up, there would be more "story."
@Jocomjg64 Also, it that pyramid, I would put good characters at the top before jokes, then story at the bottom, since good characters are more important than story. That isn't to say that story isn't important also, but good characters can flesh out a good story even futher, and good characters can save a story that's terrible. That's why I kind of don't like Pixar movies outside of Toy Story, because I don't care about those characters in other movies, even if the stories are interesting.
@Jocomjg64 I didn't say story wasn't important; it is, but kids don't care. They only like hilarity (or action, if you're doing an action show).
And there is a story, it's about a platypus that travels around the world. It's simple, it's fun, and it relies on characters to bring the entertainment. Run out of ideas? You can do a million ideas with that concept, and that's exactly what networks are looking for.
@MysteryGuyler Let's refer to Joe Murray's Pyramid of Writing shall we? The pyramid is divided into horizontal structures in which follows from top to bottom: Hilarity and jokes, story, and consistency of characters; you can't sacrifice the bottom to get to the top. But this show is based strictly on hilarity. Thus, episodes are limited, ideas can run out, and the series can stretch very long to meet new seasons. How do you market something like that?
@Foggychan well, possible reasons could be that this show doesn't really have potential that is shown through the pilot. There's not a lot of dialogue, there's only two recurring characters, it seems only to serve for laughs instead of story. This would work well as a web show, but it's hard to market and make storylines for this to be a TV show.

These are so charming, funny, and well done. No wonder CN didn't want it, along with Aaron's other short Korgoth.
