Now we're going to develop the principle of Satriani's "Pitch Axis" system, and apply a series of harmonic functions over our initial pitch set.

The Scofield-esque dorian phrase that we start with, will be edited gradually, until it fits over any chord you'd care to name!

For reference, the chords & scales used are:
Minor 7th chord = Dorian mode
Minor 7 #5 chord = Aeolian mode
Minor 7 b5 chord = Locrian mode
Minor/major 9 chord = Melodic minor
Major 7th chord = Ionian mode
Major 7 #11 chord = Lydian mode
Dominant 7th chord = Mixolydian mode
Dominant 7 #11 chord = Lydian dominant mode

As with all parts of this lesson series, this isn't about the specific phrases or licks, but about the concept.
Apply to your practice, take your time, and see what you can come up with!

(Gear used: Fender deluxe Tele, Laney valve amp, Hermida Zendrive pedal for drive)
