Yield simply alerts a driver to the fact that he or she does not have the right of way, in the same way that a priority road sign may indicate to a driver that he or she is not required to stop or yield at the next intersection. Conversely, a stop sign requires the driver to stop whether or not there are other cars that currently have the right of way. I think Europe's use of the yield sign, is something that the US should adopt in places, but we need better driver training to make it safe.

love that roundabout! It's really fun especially if you go around and around and around! LOL

traffic flow is so much better downtown since this was done. except when you get the people who insist on stopping at this roundabout when no one is coming. I could do without all the traffic signs around it. it just makes a beautiful roundabout look ugly.
54 in NY State now... 99% working better than expected. People still figuring out that YIELD means STOP.... NOT MERGE! It pisses me off when I see a YIELD sign on a highway on ramp!

I should have said, "YIELD means STOP.... NOT MERGE, when there's traffic..." Yeah, not all the time, unless you want to get rear ended.
