  • Who did this version of "Killing me softly"?

  • Most CTV affiliates played both O Canada and God Save The Queen during their sign-ons and sign-offs before going 24-hour programming.

  • @Jerseysson27 Could it be a version by John Aprin? According to wikipedia, he did do a recording of 'Killing me Softly' and that he also did many compositions for CTV. This could however be a massive red herring.

Googling "killing me softly john arpin" yields an iTunes track, which as I don't have itunes installed I can't check. If someone else does, however...

  • @Jerseysson27 you know...i should look it up, it is ultra soothing.

  • It's 2011, so maybe I should send them a letter thanking them for the lovely religious message.

  • 'Bon soir et bon jour'

  • They had colour TV in 1980 ???

  • @IanGorton Yes it is God Save The Queen.

  • @SWhit62030 Actually, it's the tune to "My Counrty 'Tis Of Thee" AND "God Save the Queen".

  • @SnugglySara - It's not so much that it later "became" it; it's that the USA took the tune and wrote new lyrics. After all, when your country was founded after a revolution which cut all ties to England and its kings and queens, you can't have a patriotic song that asks god to save them. The song is still "God Save the Queen" (or "King", depending on the gender of the current monarch), and it's still the national anthem of Great Britain.

  • In the United States, it's "My Country Tis Of Thee."

  • good to see theatre spelt correctly in N. America
