A preview of the new PBS special JULIA CHILD MEMORIES: BON APPÉTIT!
The special, premiering in August 2009 (check local listings) on PBS in advance of the theatrical release of the film comedy Julie & Julia starring Meryl Streep, is a retrospective that includes some of the most memorable episodes from Julia Childs classic cooking series, THE FRENCH CHEF: Bouillabaisse à la Marseillaise, To Roast A Chicken and The Omelette Show. In addition to testimonials from noted chefs, the program features commentary from Streep and author Julie Powell, who wrote the book on which the film is based. The special premieres August 1 and airs throughout August 2009 on most PBS stations. Check local listings for dates and times in your area at pbs.org. You can help PBS continue to offer everyone — from every walk of life — the opportunity to experience amazing performances and explore new ideas through television and online content. Now all you need is to live in Georgia or Alabama for 12 to 14 months to round it out and totally confuse anyone trying to guess where your're from.

Ah, I wouldn't worry about it. I've said some horrendously cranky things in comments, and "that's not me." Recently, I happened to see a video I'd commented on a month ago. I don't even remember typing that, and I thought, what, have I been hacked? Was I drunk? (I don't drink.) I guess I typed that gibberish. What was I thinking? I removed my own comment. Hee hee hee hee! It wasn't hateful or anything, it was just ... one of those reminders to "get a life" kinda thing, I guess! :)

Personally, I don't mind. I've found some good stuff that way, and if they hadn't mentioned it, I'd probably never have looked. That's just me, however ...

People who've lived in many places in the world often develop interesting accents. I'm not sure about hers, but I'm from Ohio, lived in NY, and am now in Paris -- the French cannot place my accent (some insist it's Irish) and most Americans think I may be British, because I listened to BBC radio for years in Europe and use some British terms without thinking about it. The one thing I don't care for myself is affected accents. What are they trying to prove, y'know?
