A preview of the new PBS special JULIA CHILD MEMORIES: BON APPÉTIT!
The special, premiering in August 2009 (check local listings) on PBS in advance of the theatrical release of the film comedy Julie & Julia starring Meryl Streep, is a retrospective that includes some of the most memorable episodes from Julia Childs classic cooking series, THE FRENCH CHEF: Bouillabaisse à la Marseillaise, To Roast A Chicken and The Omelette Show. In addition to testimonials from noted chefs, the program features commentary from Streep and author Julie Powell, who wrote the book on which the film is based. The special premieres August 1 and airs throughout August 2009 on most PBS stations. Check local listings for dates and times in your area at pbs.org. • I just watched the movie, and it's truly amazing!

  • Meryl Streep is interpreting Julia Child, not imitating her...and that is what actors do!

  • Apparently she was Montessori educated - I am unsure at what point in her life and for how long. She was certainly a very funny, confident individual. Love to watch her.

  • The film was great! Meryl Streep was amazing just like Julia...

  • i have seen the movie but from what i seen here i may have to see it

  • LET THAT GIRL COOK!

  • Ahahaha she's so blunt

  • @hotwaiter really? ohh... well go figure. haha that's pretty funny then... and i think i'd like to see more of her in any case

  • I don't think Meryl's performance was at all insulting. Julia Child WAS over the top! She wasn't just some stupid beige chef who happened to get a show, her personality was strange to people, but they adored her because it was endearing. She was always positive, rebounded from sadness and loss amazingly and genuinely enjoyed cooking and teaching people to cook. Meryl Streep did a great job of bringing all that out and worked hard to honor Julia Child's personality. I say "well done"

  • @MsSkateboardP on the contrary - even Julia Child's family said that watching Meryl Streep play Julia was almost creepy in how well she did the mannerisms and nuances of voice. She did an excellent job.

  • @n6611 im guessing its a shark a small whale or a blubbery seal:)

  • 1:01 - 1:03

    Don't f*ck with Julia, okay ?!
