Terra Naomi performing I'm Happy at the Soho Revue Bar on 16th May 2007. As with other tracks, some of the audience for the main act were less than considerate by chattering loudly through this.

I got a message from Terra to say that she had big problems with the sound quality throughout the set which was why she wasn't looking very happy (ironically) during the performance. The comments about the audience chatter are mine - not Terra's; she thought they were fine.

  • where in the world is the soho revue bar?

if it's soho, london then i feel ashamed to be british :-(

    john...

  • It is in London, or rather was, as it recently closed. A rather kitsch place, it used to be the Raymond Revue Bar; in other words an expensive strip joint for business men on expense counts. Later it essentially became burlesque central (look carefully and you can find it on some BBC reality-type programmes).

Not sure why this place should make you ashamed to be British. Terra loved it. She was really sad when it closed down and lots of musicians appeared there (some reputable, some not).

  • hi jonessg3

    thanks for the reply

it's terrible when performers (especially as good as terra) do their best only to have ignorant people chatter so loudly that it drowns out the performance, it really didn't look as though she was enjoying the experience...

    kind regards, john...

  • So it was the inconsiderate chatterers, not the place itself. I'd agree - too many people think that gossiping with their mates is more important than the enjoyment of others, not to mention inconsiderate to the artist. It's a particular problem for support acts.

If you want to feel a little better about being British, Terra's promotional CD "Live & Free" - recorded in California includes the note "with cameo performance by loud guy in front and british guy telling loud guy to shut up".

  • how come I did not hear about her??? this song is going to be a hit!! and the crowd is cruel...

  • Terra has been famous on YouTube since July 2006. Anyway, she has a MySpace and website (and I've got some other versions of this song without the noise). Terra is on Island records and her album (Under the Influence) is available in the UK (but it can be got on import elsewhere).

  • she performed very good and the song always amazes me, but this time it seemed like she wasn't really enjoying playing it..

I guess the crowd was irritating her (which is perfectly understandable)
