That's not true actually. The rules are pretty clear on hitting goaltenders: they're never, ever "fair game". However, in this case, Miller came out to participate in a possible break-away. Lucic should have avoided him though, that's why it was charging.

In my opinion, if a goaltender participates in a play like this, you should be able to take him on, but it's not a regular player, so you can't hit him like one either.
