Never Cry Wolf

Never Cry Wolf (1983) was a tremendously underrated film. It has some of the best photography ever on film. It's based on the experience of Farley Mowat - A government researcher who studied the wolves in the arctic. One of the best films about man and his relationship to the animals and nature around him.

Three subtle themes come through in this film that anyone who has ever spent time alone in the wilderness will note. Solitude, Silence and Melancholy...

I dubbed in music from the soundtrack.

A friend of mine lent me this book. Excellent. I was unable to read the entirety but what I did--was beautiful. Personally I'm intrigued by wolves and their social and pack habits. To think it is our creation of myths that cause such creatures to be exterminated. Sure, they hunt, but for food. For their pups. Quite unlike humans who hunt for game. For a photograph. To bond. Bleh.

Mowat is a lying scumbag? Do you know him personally? You are an idiot! I agree that some of the stuff in his book is hard to believe, but the man has helped remove the label of being a blood thirsty killer from the wolf. He has shown the gentle, loving and intelligent side of them. He is far from a scumbag my friend; he is the type of person who helps to save the misunderstood wildlife like the wolf from extinction due to human beings.
