  • I'm from out of state, so what would you recommend I do if I wanted to inquire about an elk hunt somewhere around there? How much are the tags, and what are the rules and such? Who would you go with as a guide?

  • Start at the Colorado Division of Wildlife - Google that and you will find it.

  • Is it private land or public? Also what GMU?

  • Private, 12 or nearby

  • how do u actually kill them? Dogs? or gun?

  • Rifle. Dogs are not a part of elk hunting. Elk are quite difficult to locate and get close enough to. Lots of folks get no elk. It is more difficult than non-hunters would think. Elk Hunters usually will not tell much about their failures.

  • do u like shooting elk. -____-

  • yeah, I don't know much of what you just said. I'm not sure what the DOW is and what preference points are, and all that, but yeah, I'm just looking to get a bull the easiest way out there. I know here there's a lot of red tape and all you have to go through, so I was seeing if in Colorado it was any easier. Doesn't sound like it.

  • im not 100% sure but im thinking 150-200 for 3rd season( late october). it aint cheap the DOW charges pretty high for outta staters, but what you should do is register for prefrence points every year and wait til you get a few years under your belt then apply for a tag. anywhere from gunnison to north of craig are some good areas. are u just lookin for a bull

  • How much are we talking? Like couple hundred or couple thousand? Got a specific number?

We have elk in Arkansas, but a limited number of tags, and the odds aren't in my favor to obtain one. So if I could get an idea on how much it might cost to hunt one there may prove more logical.

  • if your gonna drop some money go to three forks ranch they'll get ya a good size bull but exspensive otherwise getta over the counter bull tag and hunt by craig good hunting gotta fight the crowds thou

  • Thank you- we have elk here in Arkansas, but there are so few that only 30 (I'm pretty sure it's 30) can get a permit- in a random drawing. My understanding is that the select few have a select few that can take bulls- the rest can get 2 or 3 cows. If I hunt that massive creature, I want a BIG bull! Needless to say I've never come close to hunting one, and I'd probably do much better if I came out there!

It's the same with alligator permits- damn near impossible to get, and only a 1 year deal.

  • nice video. loved the, Last of the Mohicans'' music too. thanks.

  • I hunt real close to this area good ELK!
