  • i remember on another video you said you don't have your athletes deadlift on a regular basis. why not? wouldn't it build base strength?

  • @thebigtortuga Most elite lifters never have a problem racking the bar in the clean, it's standing or the Jerk that's the issue. For beginners, it's a different story.

  • @BROZKNOWS I wouldn't consider a beginner, per se, but I haven't had much coaching in the C&J before. For someone at my level (125kg best max, done at 87 kg), who now weights about 90 kg, is it atypical for the jerk to be more difficult? Even though I've cleaned 125kg (I've never had a heavier FS than this, either), my best C&J is 15 KG less at 110. Probably just a jerk technique issue?

  • I bet that would of been alot easier if he didnt hold his breath

  • @thebigtortuga Tom is awesome.

  • @pulzrocks2 size doesn't necessarily correlate to strength. strength is all about how how many fibers you can set off at one time in your muscles. strength training is about training specifically to make, in the broadest of terms, your nervous system more efficient at a certain movement. search tom martin. you don't see bodybuilders performing these feats…

  • holy shit

  • pxaaxaxxa thats why most of the elite strongmans use it and also i think using straps is more girly than using mixed grip

  • Broz,

How can exceptionally 'small' guys with very little hypertrophy at all deadlift so much weight? Is there no correlation of strength with size?

I weigh 85 kilos, and I can only deadlift 140 kg for a rep.

  • I've read that lowering the bar with heavy weight (instead of dropping it) makes you far more prone to injury...
