  • what , in your opinion, is better application Maya 2012 or 3ds Max 2012 ?

  • @PixelDeBurner That,.... is a question that always sparks a never-ending debate. Think of it this way: what would you rather drive? a Mercedes or a BMW?.. they're both great cars, right?

  • @3dsMaxHowTos Right, so, how about this question, can they both do the same things, like modelling, rigging, animating, rendering, UV texturing ...

That would be nice to know :D

  • @PixelDeBurner Yes, they pretty much can do the same things all around. Some people like 3ds Max's modeling tools better, some others like Maya's character rigging tools better, but they pretty much have the same list of specs, and in general, what one program does, the other program can do as well. As far as I'm concerned, the only thing that makes one product better than the other is the artist behind it. I've seen some amazing stuff from both apps.

  • @GraveUypo If you have max 2011 or 2012 you can use the graphite tools to modeling over a surface. Remember that is Polyboost integrated in max :)

  • Bune la

  • Gah there's always a feature for something i want to do, but i never know exactly where or how to find it. like modeling over a surface, or this skin wrap which must be awesome for modeling clothing. its these little things that i wish i knew off the top of my head, but they add up to so many i end up forgetting some of them :(

like "i know i already used a tool that does that, now where was it?" and i can never find it until i spend half an hour of google research

  • @3dsMaxHowTos Thank you, good to know that info, and btw. your tutorials are amazing, and full of details and explanations, which is great !
