You need to bring your legs into a straight line front and back, then put all your weight on your front leg, push up on that (it may hurt a bit the first few times, but you'll get the technique), and then when you're vaguely balanced on the one foot, you can bring the other in underneath you, if you understand what i mean... :P

wow i thought you were gonna break your leg there =P
you need to try and bring your first leg higher, and once its almost straight up, push up as hard as you can (easier said than done) and you should use your left leg to balance you.

The biggest problem was your indoors and you where lucky not to hit your head on thing !

try your left foot in front. and you can't ease in to it, you have to push like you're either getting up, or getting hurt. Take's courage.
I never managed it so far but haven't tried again this year... I stopped practising in winter and really should start doing it again now, just can't face starting at the beginning all over again though! thanks for all your tips anyway, really helpful for when i do try again
