Spore - Penance

It's not really worth going over what happened after the coraclebirds found technology. The planet was exploited and mined for spice, wars broke out, violence, everyone knows the deal.

A great savage war engulfed the world
. . .
Civilization was destroyed.

Those surviving vowed not to repeat their mistakes of the past and erected a great tower in the sky...
To oppress evil forever...

Unlike in Crystalis, though, which is what I'm ripping that speech (and my city design) off of, the activation of the tower didn't result in the destruction of all coraclebirds on the planet. Technology was brought under control, and complicated mystic rituals were associated with its use to prevent it from being seen as a thing to be exploited and controlled. Life on Ellem went back to something of peace... even though the coraclebirds were the only sentient species left to enjoy it.
