  • @krntimkim ...It´s 12 Oct 1968 mate..the only time Jimi played the song on Winterland. This version came out after a couple of tracks which were not quite up to his standard. But this...is fricking mindblowing, to say the least. His Guitarness works his way up chordwise thru the song, improvising himself to a solo which, first which a vibrato, then with Wah, is beautiful without belief.

One of the greatest tracks Jimi ever did play on a stage.

    Peace & Love from Netherlands,

    Henny

  • BRILLIANT!!!!! This is why he is and will always be my favorite. guys today are faster and run scales and all that, but none of that can touch this feel in my opinon.

  • My grandfather passed away yesterday and this is the only song that gives me peace of mind.

  • This majestic song, blows my mind!!!

  • @kelvinkloud hes not a cat :c

  • hey just not trying to troll here but that's actually a flanger, and by the way probably one of the earlier uses in a live set cause they were quite expensive and came out in 66, and... were used as studio automatic doublers mainly. they made the solid state flanger in 1970? Are you sure you got the dates right?

  • this is a pretty underrated jimi song

  • This recorded performance blew me away and helped define my musical mind 30 years ago ( as a high school kid in the early 80's LOL) and that's why IT IS NOW FAVORITED!

Fuck yeah. And thank you, Krmtimkin.

The weird thing is that I actually BORROWED THIS ALBUM FROM MY PUBLIC LIBRARY! That's right---you could check out albums back then! If I had known then what I know NOW I would've paid the fucking $10 fee for "losing" the album. Oh well. At least it's here.

  • find me a shredder who can play w/ this feeling, then i'll start thinking about handing over the throne to someone else. it may be 41 yrs later, but this cat is still the best rock muscian to plug in a guitar.

  • This drips with lysergic.

  • @krntimkim The reissue of Into the West that came out recently lists the recording as 12 October 1968.

  • i can't express in words what i feel when i listen to this version of the song. it's just so beautiful.

  • @bigmangiff same here dude
