So, one day while watching 'Help!' for the bazzillionth time I saw the thugs in the Indian restaurant playing 'A Hard Day's Night' and thought "gee golly, how much fun would it be to play Beatle songs on sitar?"

I don't call myself a sitar player, I can just barley play it enough for people to tell what Beatle tune I'm trying to play, so all you Real sitarists can go scream at somebody else, I know I suck already.

The band is me (Lee) on sitar, Albert on drummy things, Rupa on tanpura (made out of an old Japanese Beatle bass) and Cedric strumming the guitar. You can see pics of us in the video somewheres.

We're just getting rolling, so more songs and vids will be up eventually. Enjoy ~ Lee
Note: My new band Chandrama just released our cover of George's "It's All Too Much" so please check it out.

  • That's really good friend! How many channels did you made for the sitar, just one?

  • @MrLino Yes, just the one. On the recording Chandrama made of The Beatles "It's All Too Much" I also used just one sitar track, but I think I did a much better job of it than on "A Hard Day's Night". I'm also now using a thinner main playing string, tuned to a higher pitch, so the sound is a little different than here. I've not used more than one sitar per song yet, but it is an interesting idea.

  • @ironbuttermilk- its called Tabla. :) has a softer sound towards the edge and a harder one towards the center. the sounds vary according to the size and shape of the tabla.

  • @goutham9986 LOL. . . . nooooo it isn't. As described earlier, it's an Udu, made of clay pottery. It sounds a bit like a tabla, but it isn't. Albert has a tabla set, but isn't really a tabla player, so he opted for the udu.

  • brilliant!!!

I want to learn Sitar :)

  • @goutham9986 LOL. Yeah. . . me too!

  • @MrLino Channels? I'm only affiliated with two YT channels: this one (personal) and Chandramaofficial (my new band channel). I posted this video on Chandrama's channel too, but this is the one that gets all the views.

  • Awesome

  • @FredFan123100 I'm glad you liked it, but please check out Chandrama's version of "It's All Too Much" for better sitar playing. We'll also be doing more Beatle covers pretty soon.

  • Amazinggg.
