Yes! Make sure that you are creating a buzz or excitment for a buyer's agent to sell your home. No, they cannot steer clients toward a home with higher fees to the buyers agent, but let's face it, everyone is human and who doesn't want to get paid more to do their job? When selling your home you must sell it to the agents as well as the potential buyers. A higher buyer agent commission will only benefit you the seller and could mean you see more showings and sell your home faster!

  • The Bank teller story, the teller doesn't claim to be looking out for your best interests like a buyers agent does.

  • I like the way her eyes bug out when she says "Yes". That extra commission does it everytime.

  • @jvolstad Yes, Ethically you should be showing all properties that meet their criteria - but that doesn't mean they can't show one before the other.

  • You're inspiring.

  • Wait a minute, shouldn't a buyers agent represent the buyers best interest and not just recommend a property because it has a higher commission.

  • idiot

  • Jessica makes an interesting analogy with her bank teller example. Few homes are sold by the listing agent. Why not reward the agent who brings the buyer? Seems like a no brainer. Offering less can mean less showings.

  • I think that is called a bribe.

  • If it is not dishonest, then buyers agents should not have any apprehension about telling buyers that they will prioritize the houses that they show the buyer according to how much commission they will make. I suspect the buyer would not be too happy about this.

Obviously buyers agents need to make money for their time and effort, but they should not be in a position where they are hiding information from their clients for their own benefit. This relationship should be open.

  • We Realtors are infamous for multi-task driving; eating, talking on the phone, using a map and all while consulting with buyers in the car. On a serious not, it's better than texting, no?
