Scored this (40's-50's) wood burning cook stove. I am hoping it will kick out enough heat with the help of a well placed fan or two, to warm up my shop a bit. We'll see soon enough! Great deal off a nice lady, thanks Jennifer.

  • That style of stove is called a "trashburner" it was a small stove for use in the kitchen to burn trash, take the cill off, and had a cook top so you could cook when the power was out. It only really throws heat from the cook top, while the sides stay pretty cool so it's not a great stove for a shop stove. All cookstove type stoves are built to cook more than heating a house. Advertise for an old warm morning army stove, that makes a great shop stove.

  • @oldtimeway1 Thanks for the info, ya... I figured it wouldn't be the best for heating. I think it may of gotten the chill out of the air though. Real cool unit, we don't use it but the wife won't let me sell it now. LoL

  • Great find, I hope it works out for you I wish I could find a deal like that, I am finishing up a fire place insert wood heater that I built, I plan on using in my finished basement and I'm going to install some solar heaters that I built, if everything works well I plan on building a drip feed waste oil furnase in my pole barn, the goal is to cut my heat bills by at least half and possibly eliminate them all together, good luck and God bless.

  • @skin5011 Thanks, I thought it was a great find too! Sounds like you got a good plan going on there. I would love to be able to as much off "the grid" as I could. You certainly sound like you're on your way!!

  • sears-robuck...had one..

  • looks not to good

    need a refurbish job

  • If you use a heat reclaimer in the pipe it would work fine.

  • Nice find

  • we use to have a small old cast Iron stove it was called a corn cob stove you placed empty corn cobs in there we used small pieces of wood about every 15 minutes we had to feed it we would set the timer on the kitchen stove an every 15 minutes we would have to feed the old corn cob stove,,what memories,,it took the chill off a room,,,

  • @chainlinkdreams I don't think my wife will let me sell it even if i wanted to. She has grown rather attached to it (we both love antiques). Plus I would never want to sell it for what I paid and would feel bad upping the price to you knowing what I paid. It just wouldn't feel right, much rather hit a stranger up that doesn't know the history if that time were to arise.
