  • Why tag it in English when you speak Russian?!

  • I'm not going to make some kind of defense about this. Regardless of what the Germans thought about Dostoevsky's book--I like it as well, and so do many Jewish people today. You can read the books and you will judge for yourself that there is not alot of anti-semitism in the books. I think that Dostoevsky didn't like certain aspects that tend to be associated with Jewish people--just as I'm sure Jewish people don't like some aspects about Christians. No need to censor the free views of a man

  • Dostoevsky was right about the jews... Liberals are a cancer

  • im not sure why you are getting so up in a bundle about him being anti semitic. it was a common thing in his time and alot of people were like that

  • but can you make any defense against the germans only allowing jews to read certain authors? one of the prominent books being the idiot ?

  • Likely, if you go back and read the articles where you saw Dostoevsky being called anti-semitic, you will find that the author has a name like "Goldstein, Schmidt, Levy, Cohen, Hoffman, Silver" or some other German/Polish last name. Often, when you see a German/Polish/Russian last name in an academic or technical field, there is a high chance that the person is Jewish. You can almost know for certain if you see the name paired with an old testament first name. LIkely, these were the authors.
