Ocarina- Alto Soloist Ocarina (bought it on Ebay)
Music- Princess Mononoke theme (Mononoke Hime)
Original music by Joe Hisaishi
I messed up a lot while recording because I can't read music worth crap, so I have to play mostly by ear and just memorize it. A lot of the notes are probably off, but I'm still proud of my achievement.
I'm not sure whether or not this has been done before on an Ocarina, though it probably has.

  • If I may.... I think it's already been pointed out that it was a little flat, but what I think got to me was the.... "puff(?)" that I heard at the beginning of each note. It worked against you and broke some of the fluidity of the song. It almost sounded like.... You had to clear a little bit of something out, like it was hard to blow. But, I'm not all bad, and neither were you. The notes are good, and I'm sure if the recording equipment was better, so would the sound quality and hence the expe

  • @GuiltyDark I listened again, and you're right, you can hear the "puff". Whenever I play, something makes the smallest sound every time I blow (to me it sounds like the air is catching on something), it's weird, I'm surprised you even noticed! I think it's something to do with my breathing, I usually don't notice it until I've been playing for a while.

Ah, it's probably more of prudence rather than cowardice, nothing wrong with that.

  • Great job! You were generally a bit flat and you could use a more full-bodied tone. I don't know anything about ocarina, so I don't know how to help you with that... Anyway, keep up the good work and good luck!

  • @getsuga97 Thanks! You're right, it is a bit flat. I think it might've been the ocarina itself that was the problem. I've gotten a new one since then which sounds better but I haven't made a video with my new ocarna playing this song yet (went and lost the editing software). Thanks for the feedback. ^_^
