This is some footage from the end of March/beginning of April of Duncan, my 2001 APHA buckskin gelding. We did some schooling in the indoor on 3/31--we actually took a spill on March 27th on a trail ride. Yes, that's right, BOTH OF US took a spill--he spooked and slipped on some slick dirt beneath some leaves and went down. Fortunately, we were both okay, but I definitely had a tense muscle group in my right lower back from the accident. I made sure he was okay before I went back to riding, and obviously gave him a few days to recover just in case; the footage from 3/31 is our first ride following our spill.
On 04/04, I rode Duncan outside. It was our first ride outside and our first ride in the jumper ring this year...and it shows! It was a bit gusty, which is always conducive to a quiet ride (haha). He was very prancey and wound up even after we lunged out there, and you can see he made one good bolt/leap/rear for the gate. Spring has sprung. :)
The other footage is from the other day of us doing a little jumping--he was much quieter (almost too quiet!). As we come over the roll top that one time where he lands a bit frisky, that was because he saw some horses being brought in for dinner. I was planning on trying out the figure 8 bridle with him just for kicks, but of course I forgot my other bridle that had the pelham on it, so I had him back in his elevator. Luckily, he transitions just fine between the two bits. I think he looks pretty sharp in the figure 8. :)
I'm not looking for critiques on my riding. That's a one-way ticket to being blocked. I have a trainer and people who see me ride every time who know what to look for. Anyone who knows me knows I'm a perfectionist about my riding, and I know there is always, always, always stuff to work on and tweak. That's why I value the opinion of those whom I ASK for it. ;)

Just some constructive criticism, shortening your stirrups and keeping your heels down will help out a lot! Your Horse is absolutely amazing and takes such good care of you, good luck!

Yes...my heels are always up, which is why I flew off to my demise when he decided to bolt and bounce around in the video at 1:05. ;) Sorry if I come off as crass, but I asked on my channel page, video descriptions, etc. for lack of critique...and this video is from 2009. -_- I really think that he and I mutually took care of each other--he needed a very confident ride over fences. I'm glad he gives the impression in the vid of being a quiet school horse. ;)

I love this little guy!
How old is he? I've got a 4 year old at home and I want him to be like your Dunc
And your yard is amazing! I'm seriously thinking about moving countries now haha!
I think you're amazing and you're my inspiration to riding and perceiving with my Squid.
Love your videos!
