A traditional dance with two fans. Notice the precision in the hand and feet.

One of the many wonderful treasures at the Many Moons Festival.

  • @Arachnah In defense of the film, Its important to remember that memoirs of a Geisha wasn't suppose to be a documentary, it was suppose to be a story. On top of that, it was a story meant for western eyes. Many things in the movie were exaggerated and changed to enhance the story and to bring you into what the characters are feeling. That is just how film is; entertainment, not education. However, it is unfortunate, what happened with Mineko Iwasaki. irresponsible on the authors part. >:(

  • last night i saw the movie " memories of a geisha " ............... loved the movie and come to know about them . the r so talented and beautiful of course :) just love japanese culture .... from samurai , ninja to geisha..... just awesome :)

Just because a book is fiction doesn't mean it is not "based on real events" or historically inaccurate.

I'm not addressing the book here, just your own ignorant swaggering.

  • @RobotProductions09 Sorry, I must have misread. I feel like an idiot, now... I'll double-check next time..

  • To those confused about whether Nitta Sayuri is real or not, she's not. Arthur Goldmen, the author specifically states in his book that everything is based on what he has learned from studying geisha history, living in Japan and talking with a famous geisha named Mineko Iwasaki. This book is also categorized as fiction which means it's not based on real events. Look it up for yourself instead of depending on ignorant people who don't know their facts.

  • @RobotProductions09 I'm not sure if your comment was supposed to be sarcastic or not but if not then you should take your own advice and research because this book is fiction and the author specifically states that this is not a real person but a made up character who has some experiences similar to the life of Mineko Iwasaki who he interviewed while living in Japan.

  • Очень красиво. ) Такая точность движений, концентрация...

  • Some men grow up acting like women to do this........ 0.0 people these days.

  • What is this dance called?

  • @Musiclover181994 To the "top comment" there is much more to Japanese culture than ninjas and their fantasized movies. there is many things in Japanese culture that are just as amazing (have you ever tried a dongo).

  • C'est très beau et si loin de nos bruits occidentaux..
