@Koramauf If you can't support yourself off living minimum wage then don't take that job and find and seek a better job that pays you more. No one holding a gun to your head and say you have to work for this wage, you have the choice to choose. You think if they get rid of minimum wage every single business will start paying $1/hr? They can't do that because no one will work for them and eventually the price of wage needs to increase to a point where people is willing to work for.
-
A job that a business owner once deemed to be worth $5/hr may no longer be worth $7.25+/hr. They can eliminate the need for that labor or divert that labor to someone else earning more rather than pay the mandated wage to someone else. This would be a job loss and when the job is destroyed so is the taxable income that came from the job.

Minimum wage jobs aren't meant to be career jobs. They are jobs for workers with little to no work skills to gain some work experience so they can eventually move on to better paying jobs. In many cases minimum wage laws price people out of work. Instead of a business owner paying a kid to complete menial tasks in his shop he will just complete them himself or assign the work to someone else who already works for him. That job may have been worth $5 but at $7.25 or more its not.

I love how people use this to take a swing at FOX News.
Economists have said this for years. Hell, Liberal economists have been in this camp. Young people have been devastated by rising minimum wage laws. Young black males, who were employed at a better rate than young white males before this laws, now face over 50% unemployment. Studies also show that the vast majority (99%) of min wage workers are 2nd, even 3rd, income earners of households, and receive large raises within a year.

Forget should we lower minimum wage...COULD we lower it has to be asked first! People are barely making enuff as it is...what are these people supposed to do...live in a fuckin' igloo? A job that does not support a life is not a job at all, it's called slavery. We have two different words because they mean two different things.
-
@RedSandStudios No, what they're trying to do is make it possible to pay lazy punks less money and more dedicated, but still low-skilled more.
-
@Sondre7 Lowering minimum wage would make things worse. Big businesses like Wal Mart would drop down their wages, and since it's already too hard to like on minimum wage, even more people would not be able to support themselves. If a business can't afford to give a few people $10 an hour, it's a miracle they are still in business.

@conservakid85 You completely contradicted yourself.

@nfwvideo AMEN brother , what do all of the haters have to say about that little piece of minimum wage vs. prices history? They are so fuckin stupid drunk on the Government Kool Aid they dont know shit .
-
The government wants a higher minimum wage to pander for easy votes from ignorant people who believe that a higher minimum wage translates to greater prosperity. Higher minimum wages destroy jobs. More people without jobs means less taxable income and less revenue for the government.
Well you're in luck because the minimum wage is not $10. It's $7.25. Trying to make a point with inflated numbers is dishonest. The minimum wage exists to prevent exploitation of the poor which in many places without these laws results in people living in slave like conditions. Why doesn't this administration instead focus on promoting training of laborers so they wouldn't be "unskilled". Only teenagers in high school should be flipping burgers for a living.

This is most likely the dumbest idea I've ever heard, from anyone, ever. The minimum wage as it is now can barely support a single person, living on their own, if even do that. In fact, the minimum wage hasn't even kept up with inflation or the minimum wage would be at about $10. Scaling back the minimum wage would effectively give people jobs, yes but it would NOT allow people to LIVE on those jobs. Who wants to work 80 hours a week so they can live?
