  • Of course it depends how cold it gets. Here is the best way I know how to respond so you can adjust to your region.

Here is an example, I can use two 2*4 8' long heat up my drum to 800 degrees for about 21/2 hours. When i stack it with oak i can about 3 hours out of it and somtimes my drum will get 1100 degrees.

  • Thank for that comment. Its Great to help people out like this, I just wish i could be here more often.

The rocket heater works great!! You have to feul it like you would a normal stove, you just dont have to use as much wood , it is not the only source of heat at this point but we are working on some self feuling methods by using vegetable oil that self feeds the rocket stove make sure you tune in this winter for it ,i will have a new video by then.

  • Its there, if you get to 4:01 on the video you can se the flu coming up in the back of the green house. I am going to posting some more videos here soon. explaining rocket heater and greenhouse construction...

  • Your right the metal is 2" galv. steel. Any steel shop should be able to make these frames for you. Give them the dimension of course . Mine is 18 by 20 foot. 7 foot walls and 12 foot high on the ridge.Anchor the steel frame to the ground so it could stand high winds... Hope this helps.

  • Can you please post a video explaining how you heat your greenhouse in detail? Also how you do the ventilation during the winter time. This setup has inspired and in awe.

  • @optijazz We are still in early stages in this. We are in Springfield Mo and will be developing classes as well as website with detailed info and blogs.. it is just gaining momentum faster than we thought. We should have some good education pieces by Springtime, sorry for the delay. Thanks for the encouraging comments! We will be updating things as we progress.

  • i love this- but u need a new camera

  • i would add a heat powered wood stove fan to the drum.

  • very good , nice ,your greenhouse

  • I've been reading a lot about the RMH lately. I like your setup, and it's got me thinking. If the exhaust truly is only CO2 and H2O, why not let it exhaust into the greenhouse. The plants would love the CO2 and extra humidity. I suppose CO2 levels could possibly become toxic for humans, but couldn't you just get a sensor to warn you if levels are getting too high. I'm thinking just a T with a cap, so you could open the inside, and cap the external, or vice versa as needed. Thoughts?

  • Seems like a very expensive system with little pay back. If it is a hobby great. You did a very nice job. Any follow ups on this.

  • Are you doing any tours or classes yet? I'm about 2hrs from you and would love to see your setup. I've been inspired to build a rocket mass heated green house!

  • How much wood do you use a week in the greenhouse during the winter?

  • Awesome. And so good to see Aquaponics, diy, greenhouse and rocket mass all being done together into a pretty good sized home system.Certainly giving me a bunch of tips/pointers just watching a few times already.
