KCCI TV 8 News at Six Open for 1987.

This was part of "The Spirit" campaign many stations...most notably WFAA TV in Dallas used during the late 1980's.

News Director Paul Rhoades was still working with the station at that time. Rhoades had been with the station for many, many years and still anchored the 6pm news...though he is not at the anchor desk this night.

I remember Russ Van Dyke as well as a number of other news and sports casters. Also I remember the weather map that Russ stood behind when he would give the highs and lows for the nation. Other KRNT/KCCI TV personalities are in my memory as well. I could go on and on.

I used to work at KCCI in their Production Department as a Floor Producer. I started when it had the call letget ters of KRNT TV and Radio. Many wonderful memories of this place. I started around 1966 and left in 1973. I remember when Kevin Coonet started at the station in th esame position as I and I taught him the ropes of the production department and then he went on to school to get his degree and then returned to the station to work in the news department.
