  • How is your quest to publication going?

  • Well, I'm in the midst of summer '07, and I'm doing more author events at stores and libraries than I've ever done in my life. It's really great! And you're right, Pristine10, it is better to initiate contact with a query letter first - unless the agent specifically requests sample pages on his/her website in an initial query. The one-page letter (which should include a brief synopsis in the letter) is preferred by most literary agents.

  • Oh- this is so much fun to see now, considering I just did an Amazon.com search on your name to find that you've since published several books... You bring hope to us all, Stacey Cochran. Whoop! Whoop!

  • "Author events" What do you mean by that. Are you published? I'm working on my proposal, and my agent wants to send it out by August. It's a Christian non-fiction piece. Anyway, good luck at your author events.

  • tamzank: you obviously don't know how the writing process works. No literary agent will open up unsolited proposals or files. The first step in communication is a query letter. Hence the name, query. As in "Hello. Would you be interested in this idea..."

  • stupid!

why not send synopsis and 3 chapters in the beginning?

  • Thanks for sharing the experience, Stacey. I'll be sure to refer your videos to other aspiring writers I know.
