I noticed he flipped a switch to activate the jake brake i was wondering what that was all about ive only ever seen it where you had to take your feet away from the pedels and be in a gear for the jake to work? will this one work out of gear also???

@pontiacmanv6 You can leave the jake brake switch on but everytime you pull your foot off the gas the jakes will come on, even when parked. You have to know how to shift gears with the jake switch on when you take off from a low gear, since the rpms will drop alot quicker when you take your foot off the gas & alot of people can't catch the gear with the jakes on, so they switch 'em on & off. I leave my jake brake switch on high 90% of the time while I drive.✌

What is that switch do that he was hitting also how do you find gears with like 13 to 15 speeds in the transmission?

@Teejoker1 u can shift with the jakes on. U have to have ur revs at the right spot and be able to catch ur gear quickly so u can get back on the throttle

Jfwisor is correct. On a lot of old trucks, the jakes don't disengage themselves, they will stall out the vehicle. So retard below me, it has nothing to do with shifting. Learn to think good. And spell too..

@jfwisor - not if you can shit good. I drive a 1981 kenworth with a 3406 cat and when I'm downshifting I can leave the jake on the whole time.
