Is the STEAM BOX coming? CASUAL FRIDAY

Valve's already announced Big Picture mode and now they're hiring hardware developers. Does that mean the Steam Box is coming? And is a Steam Box even a good idea? What do you think?

Not at all. Win 7 takes up about 2-2½ Gb of RAM. That's all.

The main point of a dedicated Steam Box, is to make the transition to steam easier on console kiddies. It will basically be a SFF HTPC optimized for steam and not much else.

Actually, I built my PC last November or so. With a GTX 660 TI and a bit over powered ivybridge i7, and 16 gigs of DDR3 RAM. The PS4's specs are actually beneath my desktop, and the WiiU is definitely beneath my PC. In order to play next gen games, I don't need to upgrade, for a few years in fact. It will be quite a little while before games make use of multiple core computers and several gigs of RAM.
