Tribute to Officer Jeremy Henwood - San Diego Police Department, Mid-City Division

Officer Jeremy N. Henwood, 37 years old, paid the ultimate price/sacrifice to protect and serve the city he loved so dearly, San Diego. Not only did he serve his San Diego community, working out of the Mid-City Division, but served as Captain in the United States Marine Corp. He proudly served his country which included three overseas deployments. His last deployment being to Afghanistan, August, 2010.

San Diego police officer Jeremy Henwood was shot by an assailant with a shotgun blast to his head while sitting in his patrol car Saturday afternoon, August 6, 2011 and died of his wounds the following day. By standers came to his aid and helped officers quickly track down the shooter. The suspect was found a short time later and during a shootout with police, was shot, and killed.

In this video collage, you can first hear the broadcast right after Officer Henwood was shot, then San Diego Police Department's public affairs Lt. Andra Brown at the candle light vigil. You will see the citizens of the Mid-City community standing out on the corner of Fairmont and University at 6:00am, just a block away from the Police Station where Jeremy worked, cheering them on and thanking them as they caravan to Qualcomm stadium, to stage for the Funeral persession. Then proceeds with the funeral procession and the memorial service.

There is something extremely wrong when a hero like this comes HOME and gets shot & killed by some dirtbag that by his own wrong choices has no value or respect for that which should be respected. It always seems that the genuine good people always go unnoticed until they die. Thank you sir for all your sacrifices and may the LORD give you peace and rest.

All the bad cops out there (and there are many) should take a close look at this man and see what a real officer looks like and how he interacts with civilians. Not like the one cop who pepper sprayed the teenaged girl at the drive-through window because he thought she short-changed him. Yes, sounds unbelievable but it was all caught on video.
