  • Fastest non-steroid tainted womens 100m of all time!

  • That win was not about technique, drugs or any thing other than pure desire. At about :32 all technique is thrown out the window for Ashford.

  • Oh. For a second I thought the white person was going to win.

  • @CHEETAH69 Yes but unlike than Ottey an VCB, and in part Kerron Stewart, Jeter Fraser and Arron are very far from the all time elite in 200 m as result of the worstening of training techniques and excessive hyperspecialization that occur after 1996-98 in female athletics.

  • God I loved Evelyn Ashford - pure talent, just amazing.

  • @penntarun Jeter, Fraser, Stewart, Arron, VCB, Ottey and maybe one other have each run faster. Not one of them have failed a drug test (ok maybe fraser did, but we all know that wasn't a steroid). It's a shame that whenever we see fast times these days, we attribute it to drug use. Women are able to run faster than 10.76 you know.

  • @HotChixAndMusic though I think things like track and shoe technology have played a huge part in making humans faster. training techniques and more reliance on core and strength training have played an even bigger part in creating faster, stronger runners today. So though Bolt, if transported back in time, might have not run as fast as he has today. He most certainly would have beaten the crap out of Owens or any other runner of that era.

  • WR are ALL meaningless to begin with. As from generation to generation they don't even race on the same surface, not even mentioning footwear. I'd bet if you put Bolt on the same Berlin track and with the same shoes as Owens from 1936, there would probably be very little in it at the end. I'd even be willing to bet that Bolt would lose, as the more slippery surface wouldn't suit his massive frame at all.
