@BiteHunter I was with them for 19 years and was not ready to go with them - had more lessons to learn. It was purely voluntary and was not easy to stay in the group. Many were often sent outside the group and some given opportunity to return, others not. Libido isn't evil UNLESS you are trying to "overcome" it's influence on us. No one goes to heaven if they have not "overcome" the world as jesus said and is apparant in revelations.

Researchers were suggesting that Do was gay but homophobic at the same time, and that was the reason why he felt it necessary to castrate himself and to suppress the sexual drive in all the heaven's gate members. Sounds to me like if there wasn't homophobic prejudice in the 1970's this Do guy might never have even formed a cult.

You know, Phil, I was totally into this group and used to follow them online. Two weeks later, I was incredulous what took place. The thing is is that I understand them totally! That could have been me with black Nikes and all. I totally indentified with them and the whole androgyny thing. They were trying to control their sexual libidos because they thought libido was eeevill. Praise the Lord, I am still here and on YouTube.
