Cows plow fields, built the first rail roads in 3 contenents, can recognize voice commands from it's master like "go, stop, left right" etc. So what's the difference? Well the poor cows aren't cute and don't lick your face. But that should not be enough to unfairly elevate dogs over cows. All animals have their own value. Cows love their young and feel pain too. Isn't it hypocracy to eat beef while condemning dog eaters?

If you eat Hindu's God/cow why can't your pets be food for Filipinos etc.
