Merida is a skilled archer and impetuous daughter of King Fergus and Queen Elinor. Determined to carve her own path in life, Merida defies an age-old custom sacred to the uproarious lords of the land: massive Lord MacGuffin, surly Lord Macintosh and cantankerous Lord Dingwall. Merida's actions inadvertently unleash chaos and fury in the kingdom, and when she turns to an eccentric old Witch for help, she is granted an ill-fated wish. The ensuing peril forces Merida to discover the meaning of true bravery in order to undo a beastly curse before it's too late.

It's just my opinion, but Merida doesn't seem too displeased with Young McGuffin. I'd choose him anyway, he seems a sweet guy. Who knows, maybe there will be a spin off.. ? I'd like to know these three better XD

Originally he was going to just speak gibberish but his voice actor, Kevin McKidd, suggested he try a few lines in Doric and Pixar loved it and kept it. Found a couple translations too.After Merida gave her speech about letting them choose who they marry he said.

“It’s just not fair making us fight for the hand of a girl who doesn’t want anything to do with it. You know?”

Yeah, me, too, except Merida would have to learn his language. Or maybe she already knows it.... it'd be interesting to see her form at least a friendship with him, I'd like to see that, especially because I kinda thought Young McGuffin didn't really get much attention from others in the movie.

THANK YOU!!! I understood the "if he was a wee bit closer, I could" part..... but I didn't know the rest! Turns out 'lub a caber at him' doesn't make sense to me anyway..... but at least I know it wasn't the accent!! =)
