This is an excerpt from the full-length seminar/DVD "The Death of Discernment: How 'The Shack' Became the #1 Bestseller in Christianity." Find out why author and Christian apologist, Eric Barger, believes that the popularity of William "Paul" Young's emotionally charged story signals an unprecedented lack of discernment from within Christianity and illustrates the desperate need for clear and decisive biblical apologetics in the Church today.

Learn about the unbiblical, unorthodox theology contained in this runaway bestseller and soon-to-be-released motion picture and how it threatens to deceive untold numbers of both Christians and seekers in our midst.

  • The Shack sounds like a pretty cool book. I really wish these fanatics would mellow out.

  • @Chaltab Forget what's cool and compare the theology of "The Shack" with the Bible.

  • @happycamper777 YOU ARE SO WRONG!! Yes it's fiction but, many people are taking this as Gospel truth. People have said to me that "I now understand God in a whole new light." If you understand God after reading this book you are not understanding the God of the Bible. You are understanding a different Jesus, a different spirit and a different Gospel. Eric, is trying to show people the deadly problem that this "Fiction" can cause when it is full of lies that millions mistake for truth.

  • @impact360 ps... I DID NOT READ THE BOOK THE SHACK!!!!!

  • I was given a copy of the shack and felt so sick in my spirit that I burnt it!!!! Yet to my horror spoke to many Christians who embraced this demonic book, and said that it helped them! Truly there is a GREAT lack of discernment in the church of today. We MUST be LOVERS of the TRUTH, or we will be lead into deception!!!!

  • if we look at the evangelical past, and if we look at the fruit of our lives I cannot say that the shack is the death of discernment. what we had in the real past, as opposed to the mythical past we hanker after, was hypocrisy and legalism, not true discernment.

they are only reverting to type. we the orthodox, by our own unbelief, encouraged them.

they would know the father sent the son if we loved one another (John 14). but they have not seen this. So we repent first before pointing fingers

  • It's shameful that the church is so blind.

  • I think that everybody is overthinking this book. Did you ever think he was using Papa as a metaphor to God? Maybe he didnt specify the trinity or the gospel etc because this book was about a man discovering and finding Christianity, he didn't know about THE gospel, THE holy trinity that we know of, he was only discovering it. Ya'll are over thinking this concept, I seriously doubt the Devil is using this book. Everyboyd is really missing the point of it. Christ will save you. Why question more?

  • What's sad is, there are some people who may be on the verge of salvation and has not gotten into the Bilbe enough yet to understand that this is fiction. Just think the damage this book can do to those people.

  • I believe that Jesus is the only way to heaven. The thing is, you know what Jesus taught? Love the Lord; love your neighbor as yourself. If people are doing those things, then they are living as Jesus taught whether they mentally assent to particular doctrines or not.

  • @Chaltab Yes there are many ways to look at God and Jesus and the shack is just one of them. The Mormons are taught they can become a God themselves. The JW's teach Jesus is a created being. The Shack teaching everyone will be saved. Isn't it wonderful, there is a religious belief running around for just about everyone. Joel Olsteen wants everyone to be the best they can be. It's too bad none of them are in line with the Bible and it's says there is no way but Jesus. Hell will sure be crouded.

  • @happycamper777 Deception comes in "cool" forms- just where in the Bible does it say to lighten up on the importance of doctrine- the presentation of God as female? Thats Babylonian worship- lightening up wont take the blasphemy out of it - these tools are deceptions in the last days as Jesus spoke of in Matthew 24
