A very cheap experiment with an anamorphic lens mounted onto an Arri S 16mm film camera. This was also an expirment to see how well the 12 year-old reversal film stock would hold up. Because it was an experiment, a professional telecine transfer was not employed.

  • Looks gorgeous. I wouldn't bother colour-correcting this because that retro/washed-out look is very stylish. Beautiful camera too, you're one lucky dude, dude! :o)

  • @rikmills thanks. Yeah Im not a big fan of color-correcting and the DI process. I mean those techniques certainly have their place, but the mentality that it is mandatory in every film now just homogenizes films.

  • I think the music is from the Heat OST? Deaf Elk and Elliot Goldenthal? It seems it's not among the tracks though. Can anyone confirm?

  • Its not included in the soundtrack despite being in the film. But its not Goldentahl - its William Orbit. Track is titled LAST LAGOON.

  • very nice. although the image should be enlarged a little bit, don't you think?

  • I uploaded this video to youtube over a year before they reformatted their screen to 16:9.

  • Amazing!!

  • it's like making an old movie in the future! by the way-- is it pink floyd?

  • when you film with a film camera, how do you put the footage on your computer, or other medium to watch? i want to get into filming with such cameras

  • I need to do this but I'm not exactly sure how you did it. What anamorphic lens did you use?

  • film looks beautiful - digital lacks the asthetics of it

  • I have some questions...I have a canon scoopic and a CP-16. Both take 72mm filters. The canon scoopic is a 12.5-75mm zoom lens and the CP-16 has a 12-120mm zoom lens. What anamorphic adapter would you recommend for these cameras and how much vignetting would there be? Thanks so much for your excellent test!

  • On a complete wim I've decided to learn about aspect ratios and resolutions and got onto anamorphic and 2.39:1 etc. Upon youtubing various criteria I stumbled upon some of the most beautiful footage I've ever seen.

  • I think it looks beautiful. I envy you the camera. Plus, the look of the film, its what I want for my short films.

  • Was that the seven train? and this looks beast!

  • Very French Connectiony feel to this! Looks good, man!
