I see Ron Paul supporters as the mirror image of wedge issue voters. Wedge issue voters are willing to ignore candidate shortcomings on non wedge issues. Ron Paul voters are willing to ignore his views on wedge issues. Paul supporters become indignant and say things like, "let's talk about real issues" when they are brought up. Paul supporters seem not to be able to grasp how offensive it is to, for example, pro-choice women or minorities when they are described as ot being "real issues".

The collapse in foreign exchange earnings from declining cattle exports and remittances backlashed on the balance of payments and the state's public finances leading to the breakdown of the government's economic and social programs.

What Paul is saying NEEDS to be said. We are overinvolved, militarily. Stuff like NDAA, Patriot Act, are terrible, and NEED to go away.
The tragedy is that the guy who's saying all this also happens to be a racist who wants to destroy the federal gov't, and what few social safety nets we have.
Such a mess.

Paul might not be behind those letters, but the fact that for 20 years they flew under his radar is dangerous. Means that people in the government will get away with murder (under his radar) while he is president. Sort of like when Bush was in power.
